NARDAC names new partners as it expands global team

Specialist energy and infrastructure broker hires ex-HS2 engineer, Arjun Sharma, and energy insurtech executive, Summer Shedd, to newly created roles.

London, 24 January 2024 – NARDAC, the specialist energy and infrastructure broker, and Managing General Agency (MGA), has announced that it has hired ex-BAM Nuttall Engineer, Arjun Sharma, as Construction and Engineering Partner, and ex-Insurity executive, Summer Shedd, who is appointed as Client Development Partner. Sharma joins the business with immediate effect, supporting (re)insurance transactions for large, complex energy and infrastructure projects globally in the London market, while Shedd, based in Texas, will expand NARDAC’s outreach to US retail broker clients.

Experiencing significant growth over the last three years, NARDAC takes the specialist expertise drawn directly from the industries it serves to provide clients and carriers access to efficient underwriting solutions. The new Partners will work closely with the NARDAC senior team using their experience in energy, infrastructure, and the US insurance markets to help deliver competitive terms for retail broker clients, enhance construction risk understanding for underwriters, and further bolster NARDAC’s capabilities and responsiveness.

As renewable energy projects and infrastructure continue to proliferate into new global regions, and expand footprints in core markets, assets are increasingly coming under pressure from the effects of climatic change through increased natural catastrophe incidents, and, face complex development challenges as equipment is installed in more extreme environments, such as further offshore, or in new territories.  Sharma’s experience in managing construction risk in infrastructure will therefore be of critical support to NARDAC’s clients as they navigate supporting expanding and diversifying clean energy portfolios.

Additionally, Shedd’s experience in many of the technologies that now support clean energy infrastructure, particularly those used in battery energy storage assets, will be highly valuable to clients  supporting energy markets, such as Texas’s ERCOT, expand into new assets that will be deployed alongside current wind and solar equipment.

Jatin Sharma, Managing Partner, NARDAC commented: “We welcome Arjun and Summer whose industry experience will further enhance our client services and distribution.”

“The energy and infrastructure insurance marketplace continues to experience volatility, as underwriting capital grapples with increasing natural catastrophe claims, equipment failure from Tier 1 manufacturers, and supply chain constraints that place project development at risk.  Additionally, as the sector continues to technologically evolve at significant pace, it’s a critical part of our investment in our expertise that we secure the skills and attributes of experienced individuals like Arjun and Summer.”  “We look forward to introducing Arjun and Summer to our retail broker and underwriting clients in due course.”
