Overview

What has been announced?

Amwins has completed the full acquisition of NARDAC, a specialist energy and infrastructure broker and managing general agent (MGA). NARDAC’s wholesale broking, reinsurance and underwriting services will be integrated into Amwins’ existing Energy practice, now rebranded as the Amwins Energy, Power & Infrastructure practice.

Amwins initially invested in NARDAC in 2020 and has now acquired the remaining privately held shares.

Is this a merger?

No. This is a full acquisition. NARDAC is now wholly owned by Amwins.

Wholesale Broking

Will wholesale broking services change?

No. NARDAC’s specialty wholesale broking services will continue as before, now delivered under the Amwins brand as part of the Amwins Energy, Power and Infrastructure practice.

Will there be any change to how risks are placed?

No. The same specialist expertise, market relationships and approach to placement will continue.

NARDAC MGA / Underwriting (Amwins AGR)

What happens to NARDAC’s MGA / underwriting activities?

NARDAC’s underwriting activities will continue and will sit within Amwins Global Risks (AGR) in London.

Will the underwriting offering change?

No. NARDAC’s specialty MGA programmes will remain, including:

  • Community Solar
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Severe Convective Storm Cover

These will continue under the Amwins AGR platform.

Claims

Will claims handling change?

No. Claims will continue to be handled in London by the same team.

Will there be any change to the claims process?

No. The approach to managing claims from notification through to settlement remains unchanged.

Leadership and Structure

Who will lead the combined business?

The Amwins Energy, Power and Infrastructure practice will be co-led by:

  • Ben Abernathy
  • Rob Battenfield
  • Jatin Sharma

Will the NARDAC team remain in place?

Yes. The existing team will continue to manage their clients and portfolios.

What does this mean for brokers and clients?

The combined business provides access to a single platform capable of supporting risks across:

  • Traditional energy systems
  • Power technologies
  • Renewable energy
  • Data Centers
  • Large infrastructure

Together, the practice places more than $1 billion in annual premium supported by 110 brokers, underwriters and team members.

The Amwins Energy, Power and Infrastructure practice will operate across the United States and from the Amwins Global Risks office in London.
